Nominating Petition Information

The City of Palmer will hold a regular election on Tuesday, October 3, 2017.

The Nominating Period for the following offices is July 17 through July 28, 2017:

  • Two (2) Council Member positions, each with a three (3) year term ending October 2020

Candidate Qualifications (PMC 18.15.010):
Any person is eligible for city office if the person is a qualified voter of the city and meets state and city requirements for the office.

  1. Candidates for the office of council member shall reside in the city and meet the requirements of PMC 2.04.031 or 2.05.020.
  2. Candidates shall provide sufficient proof that they are eligible, or shall be eligible by the date of the election, to be recognized as a candidate for any election.

Nominating Petitions:

Nominating petitions will be furnished to interested candidates and may be filed with the Clerk’s Office (located at 231 W. Evergreen Avenue, Palmer) beginning at 8 am on July 17, 2017, and remain available at the City Clerk’s Office (located at 231 W. Evergreen Avenue, Palmer) throughout the nominating period.

To be a viable nominating petition, the petition must contain twenty (20) or more signatures of registered City of Palmer voters (PMC 18.15.020). All candidates must file a nominating petition with the Palmer City Clerk by 4 pm on July 28, 2017 (PMC 18.15.020).
