Gravel Trains Resume Summer Operations

The AS&G webcam is operational. Open to the public via any internet browser, the webcam video feed is pointed right at the Glenn Highway / Outer Springer Loop intersection, giving travelers a real-time view of any active train operations, which can inform their travel decisions.

ARRC is working with DOT&PF to add the Gravel Train Activity to the 511 Traveler Advisory system; the 511 website will provide notification about gravel trails activity along the Glenn Highway (MP 38-40) with intersections at Outer and Inner Springer Loop.

The Alaska Railroad’s website includes an updated Gravel Trains webpage (found at AlaskaRailroad.com > CORPORATE > In the Community > Gravel Trains). This page includes a wealth of information about gravel train operations, along with the history behind coordinated work to improve gravel train / vehicle traffic conflicts. It also includes links to the Gravel Train Ad, Resident Flyer, 511 website, AS&G webcam feed, and fact sheets on the Glenn Highway project.
