Burning Permit - Recreational
April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025
Recreational burning is authorized subject to the following terms and conditions:
- Burn permit must be on site and accessible.
- A firebreak of 5 feet wide must be maintained around the fire area. Break must be constructed of a noncombustible material (EXAMPLE: stone, concrete, paving bricks, etc.). Propane pits at least 18” clearance above ground are exempt from this requirement.
- Fire cannot be more than 3 feet long X 3 feet wide X 3 feet tall.
- Have a minimum of 1 adult in attendance at all times while burning.
- Must have some type of metal screen device to catch flying embers.
- Have sufficient means on site to control the fire.
- No burning with winds over 5 mph.
- Fires must be completely extinguished before leaving.
- All wood must fit within fire pit. Only materials designated for propane pits shall be allowed in the propane burn pit.
- No burning is allowed of any substance that creates black smoke, toxic gases, or odors.
- No burning during burn suspensions.
- Recreational burn permits MUST be inspected and approved by the Fire Chief or his designee before the permit is considered active.
