Dispatchers are a professional and efficient group of dedicated people who serve as the main link between our community and public safety services.

The Palmer EDC dispatches the Palmer Police Department for the 5 square miles of city jurisdiction; serving a population of 7209 residents.  In 2022, the Palmer Dispatch Center handled 10,368 calls for service.

When the center is fully staffed, two emergency dispatchers each work a twelve-hour shift; providing the center with dual coverage between the hours of Noon and Midnight. The EDC monitors and transmits on 4 radio frequencies and has enhanced 911 capabilities which are tied into the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN). The Palmer Police Department is the Secondary P.S.A.P. (Public Safety Answering Point) for the Matanuska Borough.
